How to get a K or Kbis extract?

The extract K or Kbis allows to prove that a commercial company is registered in the Trade and businesses Register (RCS). It can be obtained online and free of charge. Find out more before carrying out an administrative procedure, the K or Kbis extract is no longer required by the administration to carry out your procedures.

Companies with a commercial activity may also be concerned by a request for extract K or Kbis. In most cases, the requested Kbis extract must be dated less than 3 months.

  • The extract K relates to sole proprietorship (EI), i.e. natural persons. It therefore also concerns micro-entrepreneurs. The extract is called L if it is the creation of a secondary establishment.
  • The extract Kbis concerns legal persons, i.e. all types of commercial businesses. It is called Lbis if it is the creation of a secondary institution.

Warning  

A company entered in the Trade and business Register (RCS) is also entered in the National company Register (RNE). In this case, it is possible to obtain a proof of registration at the RNE (or RNE extract).

The extract K or Kbis proves the legal existence of a Commercial company. It represents an up-to-date “identity card” of a company registered in the Trade and businesses Register (RCS).

It must be provided during procedures such as opening a professional bank account or purchasing equipment from a supplier.

It is no longer necessary to attach an extract K or Kbis to carry out many administrative procedures. Simply communicate the unique identification number (Siren) or a proof of registration at RNE: titleContent (which is an equivalent of the extract K or Kbis).

This proof of registration in the RNE is downloadable free on theDirectory of companies.

For example, it is no longer necessary to provide an extract K or Kbis in the following steps:

Customs, Taxation:

  • Application for provisional authorization made to the National Center for Cinema and Moving Image (CNC) to benefit from the tax credit for video game creation expenses
  • Application to the CNC for interim approval to benefit from the tax credit for executive production expenses of foreign film or audiovisual works
  • Qualification criteria (quality sign) required for the benefit of the tax credit for the energy transition and PTZs intended to finance renovation works in order to improve the energy performance of old housing
  • Obligation on the company subject to dock dues to identify itself with the customs and indirect duties department with territorial jurisdiction and for this purpose to submit a copy of the declaration of existence signed with the competent company formalities center (chamber of trades and crafts, registry of commercial courts, chamber of agriculture, chamber of commerce and territorial industry), or, failing that, an extract K bis
  • Application for authorization relating to the activity of a tax exemption operator mentioned in Article 262-0 bis of the French General Tax Code
  • Application for exemption from excise duty (ex-TICPE) on shipments of maritime fuel and application for authorization of a special marine fuel depot
  • Application for exemption from excise duty (ex-TICPE) on supplies of aviation fuel
  • Application for exemption from excise duty (ex-TICPE) on supplies of inland waterway fuel and application for authorization of a special inland waterway fuel depot

It provides information on the company's activity and includes all the entries in the RCS:

  • Name of the Registrar of the Commercial Court (who signed the registration)
  • Name (business name), acronym, sign
  • Siren Number
  • APE code (or NAF code))
  • Legal form (SARL, SA, GIE, SCI...)
  • Amount of share capital
  • Addresses of head office and principal place of business and any secondary establishments in the European Union or the European Economic Area (EEA)
  • Age of business (length of life) 
  • Date of its creation
  • Detailed activity (text)
  • Domain name of the company's website(s) 
  • Function, surname, first name, date of birth, municipality of birth, nationality and address of the chief executive officer, directors and auditors
  • Reference of compulsory authorizations for regulated professions

In addition, it includes all the decisions of the commercial court in collective proceedings: safeguard, reorganization and judicial liquidation.

Please note

Many administrative procedures no longer require the provision of a K or Kbis extract. The Siren number or a proof of registration at RNE: titleContent (which is an equivalent of the extract K or Kbis) can then be transmitted. It is downloadable free of charge on theDirectory of companies.

The head of a commercial company can obtain free of charge the extract K or Kbis of its company thanks to the online service monidenum.fr.

This authentication service is managed by the registries of the commercial courts. You must first create a personal account and then log in using an identifier.
