What is a PCA?

A business continuity plan is a strategy put in place to responding to identified risks and threats such as:

• cyber-attacks;
• flooding;
• fires;
• pandemics;
• attacks;
• industrial accidents...

It relies on resources and procedures defined in advance to respond to the situation encountered.

The objective of the BCP is to reduce the impact of a disaster on the operation of the company and regain a level of activity as soon as possible comparable to the pre-crisis state or a new normal.

This plan should take into account:

• company resources;
• its objectives and tasks;
• its obligations;
• its partners;
• risk assessment.

In order to ensure effective implementation of the BCP, each stakeholder must understand the purpose of their company in such a case, their own role and the importance of their preparation.

Failure to establish a business continuity plan exposes the company to strong impacts such as human or financial losses, a deterioration of its image or an inability to meet legal obligations for example.

What does the Business Continuity Guide contain?

In its free guide online, the General Secretariat of Defense and National Security focuses on a real business continuity approach, presented in 9 units :

• Unit 2: I initiate the business continuity approach
• Unit 3: I determine continuity needs
• Unit 4: I appreciate the risks
• Unit 5: BIA Complementarity (Business Impact Assessment) / Risk Assessment

• Unit 7: I organize the crisis management process
• Unit 8: I keep the device alive

There is also a need to continuously improve the BCP and raise employee awareness of good behavior.
