Prevention passport for employees: obligations of the employer

Occupational health and safety training enables employees to know the risks they are exposed to and to adopt behaviors to avoid them. The Prevention Passport is an individual digital tool that lists health and safety training and clearances. Employers are responsible for providing information on the training provided internally within the company, via a declaration space dedicated to them. We present you the information to know.

The prevention passport is a digital service that traces training carried out by workers (employees and jobseekers) in respect of occupational health and safety (SST) and who collects certificates, certificates and diplomas.

This tool is managed by the Caisse des dépôts et des consignations (CDC).

Please note

Every employee, regardless of their employment contract (DTA: titleContent, FIXED-TERM CONTRACT: titleContent, apprenticeship contract, temporary employment contract) has access to this digital passport, supplied by employers and training organizations.

A jobseeker may also have a prevention passport.

The employer must take the necessary measures to ensure the safety and health of workers, including by organizing appropriate training.

The passport of prevention allows toattest to the follow-up of training courses and identify acquired qualifications occupational health and safety.

FYI  

The data which appear in the passport are provided by the employer, for the training it has provided himself. The training organization shall provide information on the training it has provided in this field on behalf of a company.

A dashboard allows you to view and manage all the training courses taken.

This tool also helps to identify which skills are already validated and which could be updated or supplemented to keep employees up to date (e.g. for the “Safe Driving Ability Certificate” (Caces) training).

Training to be declared by the employer

The training to be declared by the employer is that provided within the framework of the company.

They must fill in all of the following conditions :

  • Meet an occupational risk prevention objective or the general training obligation. 
  • Give rise to a certificate of training or proof of success.
  • Enable the development or acquisition of transferable knowledge and skills (i.e. useful and mobilizable for another similar job).

From 16 March 2026 until 31 December 2026 (so-called transitional period), employers shall only report training of the following categories:

  • Mandatory training entirely governed by the regulations (category 1).
  • Mandatory training for jobs requiring an employer's authorization or authorization (category 2).

One simulator allows the company to know whether training should be included in the prevention passport.

Deadline for reporting

The reporting period for internal occupational health and safety (OHS) training is 9 months. This period applies for a so-called transitional period, which runs until 31 December 2026.

The starting point of the 9-month period (and then 6-month period) is calculated from the end of the quarter in which:

  • The training has been completed, for training which only requires the issuance of a training certificate.
  • Begins the validity of the proof of success issued to the holder.
