The following single-use products, consisting wholly or partly of plastic, or their packaging shall bear the mandatory marking respectively:

• Hygienic towels, buffers and tampon applicators
• Pre-soaked wipes for bodily and domestic use
• Tobacco products with filters (cigarettes, certain cigarillos, etc.) and filters marketed for use in combination with tobacco products
• Cups and glasses for drinks, with the exception of those containing only trace amounts of plastic.

This marking, used in a harmonized manner throughout the informed users of the following:

• Presence of plastic in these products
• Bad sorting gestures to avoid (do not throw them in the wild, in the toilet)
• Harmful impact of these products on the environment in the event of poor sorting or uncontrolled deposition.

The mandatory marking shall be affixed in accordance with the specifications set out in the Annexes to the following European Regulation:

The specifications are set out in the following annexes:

• Annex I for sanitary pads, tampons and tampon applicators
• Annex II for pre-soaked wipes for body and household use
• Annex III for tobacco products with filters (cigarettes, certain cigarillos, etc.) and filters marketed for use in combination with tobacco products
• Annex IV for beverage cups and glasses, with the exception of those containing only trace amounts of plastic.

The absence of marking or the presence of a marking not complying with all the rules indicated in the European regulations is punished by the penalty for contraventions of 3^e class.

This corresponds to a fine of €450 (natural persons) or €2,250 (legal persons).
