Verified 01 January 2026 - Entreprendre Public Service / Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

What is the Interprofessional Growth Minimum Wage (ISG)? The minimum wage is the minimum hourly gross legal amount that each employee must receive. Special provisions apply to minor employees and employees residing in Mayotte. We explain the conditions of its payment and its amount.

General case

The minimum wage corresponds to the legal minimum hourly wage below which the employee cannot be paid.

It applies to any major employee, regardless of the form of his remuneration (time, performance, task, piece, commission or tip).

The employer may be fined an amount of €1,500 if he pays the employee a salary below the minimum wage.

The employer may also be ordered to pay the employee damages and interest.

Please note

These legal provisions concerning the legal minimum hourly wage do not apply to VRP: titleContent. The employee working under this scheme can be paid, in general, a fixed salary and commissions or bonuses.

The amount of Net minimum wage is given as an indication.

The rules vary depending on whether the employee is of age or a minor:

The minimum wage is increased every year to 1er January.

It is indexed to inflation measured for 20% households with the lowest incomes.

The revaluation of the SMIC is carried out on the basis of half of the purchasing power gain of the average hourly wage of workers and employees.

During the year

If the consumer price index increased by at least 2% compared to the index found when the last minimum wage amount was established, it is automatically increased in the same proportions.

Increase boost

At any time, the government can increase the minimum wage.
