The integration of the European Unique Identifier (EUID) on all Kbis extracts was announced by the registrars of the commercial courts on 1 December 2025. This is a new term for identifying the businesses of the EU Member States.

This addition comes from Directive 2012/17/EU and Regulation 2021/1042. The aim is to improve the reliability of legal information and to combat document fraud.

Harmonized identification of companies within the interconnected business registers of the European Union, the BRIS (Business Registers Interconnection System), will now be possible.

In addition, it will be possible to access official certified information, such as the statutes on a business registered within the European Union. This will provide secure and easy access to companies' certified legal data.

This addition will also secure cross-border data such as mergers or audits for example.

This new identifier will provide additional information in order to reinforce the control by ensuring the authenticity of a Kbis extract.

It will simplify compliance checks and KYC (Know Your Customer) procedures. It is a process for verifying the identity of clients and assessing risks.

Until then, the authenticity of this extract was verified by the consistency of the SIREN number, the confirmation of the registration at the RCS: titleContent or the presence of mandatory legal notices. From now on, verification will also require the presence of the EUID

FYI

The composition of the identifier for a French business will be as follows:

  • ‘FR’;

  • EUID register code;

  • SIREN number.
